What we see here is CN 111, Hotest of the hot. But today, the train plays host to sevral bare table well cars. The second unit is an SD40U, which may not be around much longer.
CN 2452 is the second-last Dash-8 for the CN, the last being 2454. Built most likley in December of 1992, this locomotive is practially the exact same age as myself. Here we see it hulking the 357.
My first Green Goat - NREX 2009, 3GS21B, trailing CN 2549-5534 on 346. It's twin brother, NREX 2011 is the only Green Goat to have demonstrated on CN so far (Dec 06 CRO). Perhaps this unit is joining them? Either way, better then a GT GP38 I though I was seing again.
CP's AC4400CW fleet is not HEP equipped, thus this flat is used to provide power to the Holiday train. It has to be the best looking in the fleet - ironic since its one of the oldest, of '72 heritage. Lots of them still around in regular IMS service, probably the oldest IMS cars on any Class I...

Back in Nova Scotia, I used to see long cuts of 60' paper boxcars all the time on CBNS. They're virtually absent on CP through town (maybe 10 per year!), except for the Holiday train, where this cut of four can be seen.
Do any other Railways have such a car? Essentially a stage on wheels, idle for 11/12 months of the year. CP has two of them, one per each Holiday train. Note the covered up Christmas trees on the roof.
You can clearly see the covered Christmas tree from this angle. Note the baby carriadge and its occupant treespassing on RR property. LOL
Interstingly the two bells on the side are mounted differently. The first one appears to be a tradional design, whereas the 2nd is on a frame, like most...

Normally I'm not too exited about unit grain trains, as long as they're not hauling junk up front. But add a BCOL SD40-2 and it makes all the difference.

The stage car can speak for itself, but note the car next to it! I believe its the only 50' boxcar to have CP's rodent decal attached. They are very common on 60' high-cubes. Note the covered Christmas tress on the roof.

When I turned on the scanner this morning, 357 was the first train I heard. Naturally I was sure I'd miss it, but a couple hours later he was still sitting in the...
I've seen this bus every time CP's Holiday train comes through. If they follow each other, why not just put it on the train? You can see the Saskatoon Food Bank truck loading in the background.

Once upon a time such trains ran all over the country. Today they've been 'downgraded' to running on a mixed, complete with an AC4400CW for power, IMS and paper boxcars. Ouch! The Holiday train sure looks nice.

To date I've only been able to make rosters of the Wilkie and Brendenburry plow, since our own, Sutherland plow just sits at the shops with his back turned to the public. I finally got lucky today, while shooting the Holiday train - look over the couplers and whom do I see?
This looks like a...
CP 9815 is about to head back East to Montreal with the Holiday train. Sorry Calgary, Vancouver and others down the line - you didn't make it!
In classic RR dusplication, 9815 will repeat the Saskatoon-Lanigan, SK portion, before heading south to Regina and continuing westward. This...

He looks scarry, until you take a look at those weeds - not exactly going anywhere... With the busy shops nearby you'd think all the vegetaion be dead by now.
CP 401021 is in town for a visit - he visits often, a couple times per year. Although hard to see from this angle, the Sutherland snow...
I knew a train was coming thanks to radio chatter, but all I could see were the three lights (headlight+2 ditchlights) until it got close enough. Then he kicked up snow on the bridge and visibility went back to zero...
Don't let the looks fool you, with falling snow it was pretty warm...
