Not that long ago this sight would be unthinkable, back when WC engines stayed on WC rails and CN still had their 278 strong GP40-2LW fleet.
Now that most of it has been retired (~60 left), with the need for 3000h.p. 4-axle power remaining, WC GP40's are brought up north to the rescue.
This is only my 2nd real WC catch. I.e. not the recently re-numbered ex-GCFX SD40-3's, exx-CN SD40's that are now in the WC 6900 series.
The other unit was WC 7554, SD45u on a W/B IMS back in 2004.
http://tinyurl.com/22m9dm As part of CN's 'kill 'em all' approach to old units, she and the rest of the SD45/SD45u WC fleet were recently been retired as well.
Note the unit's paint, the WC lettering and logos are faded out, but the U.S. Flag decal shines! She put on a good smoke, hauling 78 cars along with CN 5244, a SD40-2W, who's days are numbered.
