I believe everything in this photos is now gone: CN 5232 - the last active SD40 on the roster was retired next year, going on the short line circuit, to Athabasca Northern, then Central Manitoba, now Prairie Rail Solutions. Area railfans believe it to be the last non-upgraded CN SD40 left with...
Canadian National SD40-2LW #5362 leads a local through town at exactly 10:10 a.m. It is exactly two Years after I caught a Grand Trunk Locomotive doing the same thing. I had my trusty Pulsar Watch, which, as of this writing, is still working after fpour years.

Except for the SD50F, Dash 8-40CM & GP40-2LW, all of whom have fallen out of favour, nearly 35 years of CN mainline units are present...
Freshly washed CN SD40-2W leads an empty coal train solo. Sadly I didnt take car counts back then, this was a full unit train though at least 70 cars. Normally two Dash 9-44CW type engines handle the job.
This is not an April Fool's joke, the train was actually spotted on April 1st.
One of the many Walker shop jams, parked next to SD38-2s, SW1200RSs, a GTW GP9, BCOL RS18CAT & SAR B23-7, not to mention more common CN units. Not that long ago CNs last A-1-A 1000 series GMD1s were parked here along with more wrecked junk.
CN SD40-2W 5250 and BCOL 4543 pull out of the Riverview siding after meeting counterpart CN 314. After the routine crew change and switch lining, CN 303 will take to the Warman sub. The CN 520, who is waiting on his heels, will then go back to the yards.
Until recently 313 was a regular manifest with a bit of everything. Now that the Prince Rupert terminal is open - there are boxes up front!
The train proceeded to work Saskatoon yard for at least two hours. Great way to serve those Intermodal customers!

In the last 10 years CN shrank their GP40-2LW/GP40-2W fleet from ~280 to about 60. Hence these engines are now rare. I've only seen them three times this year and I railfan the CN main fairly often. Statistically the IC SD40 series (SD40-2/SD40-3/SD40-2R etc.) is twce as common in the area...
Today's 452 is a very special train. It has about 1/2 the usual cars and a GP40-2LW leading. Although he had lots of tankers mid-train, he looks like a unit potash on the curve.
