I couldn't come up with a name for this shot, so just went by the song I was listening.
The name fits well though: It seems like your stereotypical Prarie shot, something that could have been taken 20 years ago - A pair of SD40-2's leading a manifest. These engines however have been 'de-rated' to wayfreight duty, the work of GP38-2's and high-hood GP9's, that themselves have been bumped from this job to yard duty for the last 20 years...
These engines will be lucky if they're still around 5 years from now.
Note the scorthed Earth in the background from a grass fire - some things never changed. Although the first car is your classic cylindrical hopper, it's actually CN's! Me thinks hes going to the Colonsay mine. CN has their own spur to the mine from the Watrous mainline @ Young, but its blocked by ~700 hoppers in dead storage, so CP handles everything from their end. Guess its easier to interchange with CP in Saskatoon, then to service the mine themselves Interestingly the spur isnt shown on RAC maps, even though they show every other spur. Maybe CN abandoned the cars along with the rail LOL.
I could just as well call this 'Floral, SK' - you're not going to see any more of the town, there's none.
11:50am CP N41?, 10 hoppers/7 tankers/54 hoppers
CP 5912-5927 (action red-multimark)
