Crowsnest, Track One

269-08 is tied down on track one at Crowsnest. After the Cranbrook boys arrive, the conductor will grab the SD40-2 from track 3 and add it behind the power. The SD40-2 is used as a helper for the turner (coal) trains.

The derail protecting the west end used to be a power derail. The power derail tripped itself and opened up as a sulfur train was passing over it.
Excellent photo. I love that area of the province. Does the crew have to get the derail back after they pull out, or is it one of those Exception Derails?

Thanks guys.

The crew does not have to restore the derail after they pull out. That's why the power derails were nice, because they restored themselves. But, since the derailment destroyed the one that was setup here CP probably won't replace it. That seems to be their nature on the southern corridor.

For example, the slow orders on the Crowsnest sub are ridiculus. From Crowsnest to Coleman (a distance of about 9 miles) it can take a good 35-45 minutes. IIRC there are four 10s in that 9 miles.
