That looks amazingHello all,
I thought of creating a dedicated thread for Sri Lanka Railways, which considered as one of the scenic railway lines in the world. I will share images, news and my own experiences here. If you have taken a rail trip in Sri Lanka, please share your experiences here.
I would love to hear your feedback

Really wonderful photos John. Thank you so much for sharing these. Did you take the Badulla/Ella train? That is the most scenic train in Sri Lanka.Hi there!
I’ve just joined but I wanted to say that I had a very enjoyable holiday when I stayed at the Mount Lavinia hotel about ten years ago now. I did some train watching at the local station and took myself to the capital Columbo by train one day. That was quite an adventure!
I got to see the railway museum and do some more train watching on the main station.
A wonderful country with friendly people, marvellous scenery and great food!

I apologise for the rather poor quality of these pictures, I’m not much of a photographer and the light conditions fooled me or my camera! But I hope they are of interest.
Cheers,
John
Thanks Poorna!Really wonderful photos John. Thank you so much for sharing these. Did you take the Badulla/Ella train? That is the most scenic train in Sri Lanka.
Thanks Poorna!
No, sadly I didn’t get chance to take this train, much as I would have liked to have done. We were there for a significant birthday for my wife but she was suffering ill health so I mainly stayed close by the hotel.
Thanks for posting the video of this train, it’s enjoyable viewing.
Cheers,
John
