UP 8018 sits at Emeryville waiting for the go-ahead to head east with a long string of loaded auto racks filled with Toyotas from Fremont's NUMMI auto plant. In just two more weeks NUMMI, the last auto plant on the west coast, will close, resulting in the loss of more than 4,000 jobs in the...
A UP vehicle train sits quietly in the hole at Emeryville for a parade of Amtrak traffic. After three Amtrak California trains, UP 8018 East finally got the go-ahead.
One of Union Pacific's flawed SD90MAC's takes a short eastbound freight through Grass Lake, California on the Shasta Route in August of 2002. The big EMD's are all in the scrap pile just a about a decade after their construction.
Someones misusing DPU capability LOL. Half the train is in the tow, the other half will be lifted down the line to form a typical '1+2' potash train, i.e.:
Engine/62 hoppers/2 Engines/62 hoppers (119-125 hoppers in total)
Normally this is done by two AC4400CW's up front (1 unit waiting @...
After just 10 years of service the decaling is already faltering If UP takes over CP I cant see the power scene changing much, already UP & CEFX SD90MACs everywhere!

Union Pacific SD90MAC #8275 is ready to pull a loaded grain train out of the siding in Portland, Oregon with Mt. Hood looming in the background on June 23, 2008.
CP SD90MAC-H II CP 9303 is the last EMD product bought by CP. CP 9303 and fellow EMD product SD40-2 number 5696 brought this 450 to a stop to wait for a CP 105. After been tinkered with these units are now making there way around the Alberta Saskatchewan and Manitoba Districts on CP. She is...
CEFX 117 was relaxing in the South, along with other SD90MAC's in UP's massive fleet, when CP decided to leaase them again.
That paint sure is hard to spot in the snow.

Two SD90MAC's are backing up to couple to an ES44AC (CP 8745) to help switch their train. The ES44AC was then dropped and went down on a potash run to Regina.
CEFX 102 along with twin CEFX 108 lead CP 104 out of the yard onto the mainline. I cropped out the red switchstand, as not to disturb color.
Not sure why there's a golden glow on the SD90MAC long-hood, as the sun is right behind him.
Now that CP is once again leasing CEFX SD90MAC's, they have become somewhat common, leading 454 solo in this case. Normally this is a SD40-2 trio train, with CEFX SD90MAC's appearing exclusively on potash trains once a month or so.
CEFX sure didn't spend a fortune decalling this unit, aside...
