CNs first GP38-2 is in good company: trailing a GP40-2LW (currently oldest on CNs roster) followed by a GP9RM predecessor. As you can see with each generation the cab gets bigger LOL. Sadly the GP40-2LWs were the last new Geeps on CNs roster.

A southbound Amtrak Empire Service train crosses the Harlem River along its junction with the Hudson at Spuyten Duyvil. Picture taken from Inwood Park.
Four Geeps lead the "NEW WEST" northbound thru Custer,WA headed for the INTALCO yard on the Cherry Point Sub where it has a big switching job to build a train to bring into the ARCO Cherry Point refinery.
Happens to the best of us! Now that the CN 8800s are common as wheat out here, I can't say this train is 'special' or 'unusual'. But, the new power was just too cool. It's strange to see them on the 450.
Brand new EMD product, along with a twin, lead 115 into town. "Brand new EMD" doesn't sound right after almost a decade of new GE power and half-dead SD40-2W's on the mainline. If only these engines could make a similar comeback on the CP...
With more ES44DC's on the horizon, perhaps CN could finally kill off the SD40-2W fleet.
The executioner sure looks good though. Even compared to the "kinda new" Dash 9-44CW behind him.
