The South Draw

A hard-to-access area on the old D&RGW Moffat Route, where the tracks, on a continuous 2% grind to Moffat Tunnel from Denver, make a horseshoe curve through a rugged valley, through 5 tunnels, and numerous rockslide areas protected by electrified wire slide fences. This is the South Draw, about as rugged as moutain railroading gets. Tunnels 13-17 are featured in this area. The scenery is breathtaking!

Great shot!!! How far did you have to hike to get the shot?

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier... About 3 miles one way, along the tracks, and over tunnels. About the only way in, other than following the tracks, is a helicopter! Well, you could hike in over the mountains, but that's the hard way.
