It was a rear-ender, IIRC. They were both 90 degress to the tracks at the time, this shot must be after they were righted.
 
Oh! this sure would make a railfan :sad - Not a beautiful site but a very well done photo - I'll give you a 5 for your fine work in capturing the moment.

a few more steps to the left matbe? I,m not a good photographer myself, but I definitely want to see how they managed to keep that rear truck under the toastie
