Five Geeps rest at the fuel stand after returning from Flin Flon. The former MP, CNW & CR SD50s are too heavy to use on the branchline!
HBRY 4200-2509-2506-4201-300? GP40-2LW/GP7/GP20/GP40-2W x 2
Lots of novelties in this lash-up:
The Frisco GP7 was recently returned from the deadline very few operating GP7s anywhere
Former SP GP20 is the only such unit in Canada, just returned from the OVR.
Aside from the last unidentified engine wearing CN stripes all four are painted in HBR green until the recent arrival of old-school EMDs only early Geeps (GP7/GP20/GP30/GP35 etc.) were painted in HBR colours. Hence green trios were a rare sight given the railroads preference for ex-CN M420Ws still wearing the stripes. Only two GP40s are currently painted green leaving 8 with CN stripes.
That must have been in the shops when I was there, the only geeps I saw were still in CN colour. Good to see they've been painted, the patch work always looked so poorly done.
