CN 199

The CN 199 has been very elusive, and this is the first good photo I have managed to take of it. The train now seems to have 3 units, and nothing but single stack Intermodals. I enjoyed seeing this power consist, as it took me back to the golden ages of 2001, when all CN Intermodals sported this fine power, and the CN still ran TOFC service west of Toronto.

Oh CN still runs TOFC! Saw a couple trailes on 115 about a week ago.

Pardon my initial ignorance, but nothing but single stacks? What about all those empties on the back? Probably the best hp/tonnage ratio CN has anywhere.

July 3rd, 2008
From MP 185.01 Watrous sub
7:42pm CN 199, 53 singles/70 empties (102 TEU) 3 minutes
CN 5628-5662-2579 (CN-web-CN)
Cosco*, tex, Triton, CAI, GVC, Hanjin, Cronos, UEC, Florens, Water Front

What a joke! All while real CN IMS's have two poor Dash 9-44CW's struggling with 170+ cars. (no empties, mostly doubles). Perhaps there's an extreme W/B grade into Prince Rupert, but an engine can certainly be lifted at Edmonton... Unless those empties are very very hot and can't afford to stop anywhere. Maybe they're carying invisible cargo!
