Here's something you won't see very often: The Rainbow Train. This train features BNSF 4520, a Dash 9 in the lead, two BNSF training cars, an Amtrak Superliner, and an NMRX consist. This train is going to Lamy, NM to be an integral part of a disaster drill conducted by the New Mexico National Guard. This drill is being held on Tuesday, August 8 at the Lamy Amtrak station.
Special thanks to the NMRX employee at the Sandia station who gave me some heads up on the train and told me about the MOW work joining the rails with a special welding technique.
Very special thanks to Southwest Railroad Photography who messaged me about the train early in the morning.
I'm not sure why it's called the Rainbow Train.
