Hi, I am a bit absent from RailroadForums. Let me update some news from Brazil.
Last friday, 8/24, I was driving along BR040 road when I saw a couple of GE C21MP been moved by trucks from GE plant in Contagem, MG to Rio de Janeiro port. The units belongs to Drummond Coal in Colombia and are...
Today, 27 Aug 2010, a southbound CN freight struck a dump truck at the level crossing at Elmsdale, Nova Scotia. The driver of the truck was ejected through the window and seriously injured. He was medivaced by air ambulance to hospital in Halifax. It sounds like he will recover.
UP service truck driving northbound along the tracks next to the parked display of UP 844 during "The Valley Eagle" Heritage Tour, 2010. The car "Reed Jackson" is immediately behind it.
A CPR maintanace truck is hauling the goods to a work site out on the Outlook Subdivision. There were two other Crane/Carman trucks heading out, as well as a Sperry Rail welding truck and a pickup.
Heading out to Riverview, examining the bridge. Really like the extended bumper out front, note that there's a tiny one on the rear as well. Good room for the spare tire - perhaps it doubles as a life jacket for water rescue? LOL.
If there was any unusual load, this would be it. It appears to be a Tandem-tandem Western Star of sorts and a Dodge pickup. It was heading east on a CN Manifest.
Who decided to show up to my favorite railfan spot in the middle of nowhere? Why the friendly forman of course. The crew (2 regular hi-railers as well) soon took off W/B fixing the CN TRANSCON.

As the GP7u/GP9u switcher pair works in the background, this truck is visiting the Radio shops. He later had his hood open and CP employees working around the bed, so its likely not radio related.
Your typical plain-white shortline hi-rail, until you see this decal on the back. Quite clever IMHO, although a pick-up truck certainly doesn't qualify as a train in my log book.
Two MOW workers discuss the upcoming grinding project, involving a LORAM Railgrinder along with other more traditional equipement pieces such as a tamper and broom.
Note the trucks paint. It's classic CP Rail Systems, re-patched in the modern CPR flavor. That way the whole truck doesn't need...
This BNSF inspection truck was sitting at this crossing in Saginaw, TX for so long, he reminded me of the road crossing guards I used to have in elementary school. Photo taken September 7, 2007.
A very common hi-rail configuration on CN, can be found anywhere doing anything.
Back when I didn't have a scanner, sitting next to one was the best opportunity to hear what was coming and when.
Freightliner 6-axle hi-rail has delivering its load of new rails and ties to the needy area.
You can see the headlights of an approaching Westbound from Thunder Bay.
