Carkeek Park north of Seattle WA is one of the best places to railfan. There's a bridge over the tracks and the Puget Sound in the background!

It's not every day you see an Amtrak train being pulled by a freight engine. Amtrak 7, the Empire Builder is being pulled into Seattle by BNSF 5233 on February 26, 2017.

Service disruptions between Seattle and Everett, WA due to mudslides and fallen trees prevented the Empire Builder and Cascades from providing scheduled service for a day or so. Yesterday things were back to normal.

December 31, 2016, New Year's Eve, and it's 34 degrees outside. Down to the waterfront I go intending to catch the Empire Builder and the Cascades 513. These aren't very interesting, but I was fortunate enough to catch a stack train.

On the first three Saturdays in December, Amtrak runs a special train from Seattle to Leavenworth, WA over Stevens Pass. Here it is passing the North Portal, preceded by Amtrak 510.
