A typical overcast muggy day in Port Arthur, TX. The local KCS 4:30 pm Port Arthur to Beaumont Yard job approaches the 28th street crossing. Train speed through the area is usually about 10 mph. I live about 1/2 mile away so there is plenty of time to catch a train from my house, I can hear them...
KCS Eco units on the 4:30pm KCS Port Arthur Yard to Beaumont Yard train. Returns to PA from BMT around 7:30 pm. I live about 1/2 mile on other side of tracks from the crossing in the background. I grew up about a 1/2 mile this side of the tracks from where I am shooting the photo.
KCS Eco units on the 4:30pm KCS Port Arthur Yard to Beaumont Yard train. Returns to PA from BMT around 7:30 pm. Hwy in background is Hwy 73. Notice the old concrete milepost and whistle/horn markers.
Location - Beaumont, Tx at Riverfront Park
"Lunch Shot" Taken on my lunch break... Above - A UP train with BNSF power on the point crosses the Neches River on the KCS lift bridge. Below - the Port of Beaumont is shoving an empty military train back in to the port.
TBPX 0007 serves as a rider car accompanying the Cracker Train, and it appears to be of CN heritage. Note the stream of smoke coming from the lower quarters. The tankers at the rear of the picture are on CN 313
DEEX coal train heading to the St. Clair Power Plant on the CSX old Port Huron and Detroit RR line.
Paintshop Pro editing added the darkening to the photo.
The power plant in the behind the train is the Marysville DTW plant... now out of service.
It has been a while since I have done any RR photography... gas prices are one of the reasons and time to do it since I no longer live next to the tracks.
In anycase an outing with my son to the Port Huron Amtrak station, at the east end of the old GTW Tunnel Yard, was rewarded with some...

CPR GP38AC, 3000, races westward towards Vancouver on a freight. 3006 is the second engine. Taken on June 10, 2007. The station was buit for and used by the West Coast Express.
I was suppose to be taking pictures of my brother's Sea Cadet's end of the year ceremony. But, hey, it's not my...
NS GP38-2's 5612 and 5614 have deadheaded into Port Jervis, NY and sit idling on the mainline as the engine crew gets lunch at a nearby Burger King. The rear car of the Metro North commuter that arrived earlier blocks the other main track.
RLK 4002 & 4003 are the proud Cape Breton switchers that are always working together. CBNS has 4 of them, not exactly sure where one is, but another one is in Stellartion working "solo missions". Not that long ago these were SP GP9's if you can believe it.
About 5 minutes after...

In July of 2005, CSX vacated it Port Huron "Boat Yard" due to its sale to Acheson Ventures. They yard, tracks and property will be converted from everything to a marshes, marinas, and condos. Since the late 1800s there was always trains in Port Huron, MI. Now they are gone from the...
RLK 4003, GP9-4 of SP heritage idles with RLK 4002 at in front of the depo. A piblic walkway along the watefront makes for great close-up shots through the fence.
Early Sunday morning in Port Huron shows an almost empty CSX Port Huron Yard. The mix of locos, slug, and some rolling stock is a far cry of the capacity of this small yard. The operations will end this month. Only a few more morning like this left with trains in Downtown Port Huron, MI.
