This train was transferring from IHB's Blue Island Yard up to CNW's Proviso Yard on the IHB. The train is about to cross the Santa Fe diamond at McCook, IL. I'm not quite sure of the year, probably the mid 80's though.
Here's the Rock Island caboose 17080 rolling through Wichita, Kansas back in 1973 looking like brand new but it's not. The inset photo shows it on its side in north Wichita where it derailed along with a grain hopper. Here it is rebuilt and looking like new.
After the Rock shutdown on 3-31-80 several equipment moves plied the rails. Here is GP-40 3003 leading a Westbound move approaching the US Rte 6 overpass East of Morris IL in July 0f 80.
