Tennessee Pass

An empty rail train, symboled GJPUM, streaks up the west side of Tennessee Pass between Deen and Mitchell on Sept. 4, 1990. The entire Minturn helper set of 4 SD40-T2's was added to the head end of the 1,400 ton train in Minturn. With the two GP40's assigned as road power, that's 18,000 horsepower, enough to make a good 35 mph up the 3.5%.
