Starting a Long Climb

This crew are digging in with the UP 4396 and 9772 as they start the 40 mile climb from the Snake River to Encina, OR.
Thank you. I attempt to see how the railroad fits into the landscape. In a few miles any sign of green vegetation disappears along the tracks.
