Southern Pacific On The Cutoff

In classic SP style, SD40T-2 #8306 leads a westbound freight drag up the Palmdale Colton Cutoff between Dike and Canyon in Cajon Pass in 1984.
Awesome Herb!! Is this the second shot you took of this train? I ask because I have seen another shot of yours with the Flare45 8818 with the air foils and the central air intake hood. She's the second unit. Very rare catch, as she was the only SP locomotive with such equipment!
I also posted this on the SP Forum.

Thanks so much Thom. You're right about this image, it is actually the second in a series of three images I took of this train heading up Cajon. The first image you remember was an approaching "wedgie" shot. Thanks for the history on the 8818!
