This line (Vienna Liesing - to Kaltenleutgeben "Holcim" facility) is very near to my home, only 10 minutes away by bike. Transporting just cement nowadays, it was once also in passenger use. On its 5.2 kilometer ride (25 kph V/max) it even crosses the state border between Vienna and Lower Austria. 2-3 train pairs are going every weekday, in the evening a freight train gets the cement cars to Slovakia and brings some empty ones back.
Bigger roads are crossed using automatic level crossings, but on some smaller ones shunting workers have to get off the train and secure the level crossing.
Here we can see one at the old and out of use Perchtoldsdorf station (right background). The current loco doing the work here is a GKB (Graz-Kflacher Bahn) DH 1100.001 (former German V100, built by Henschel in 1961, DB number 211.170, 1100 hp).
