Savage Alberta Railnet

Ive never been to Northern Alberta, yet Ive seen Mackenzie Northern, Athabasca Northern & now Savage Alberta Railway/Alberta RailNet units being transferred on CN through the Prairies.

Dont let the ATSF paint fool you, these are former Southern and Louisville & Nashville engines respectively as you can see by the different headlight position.

SAR had three more B23-7s on roster, part of an impressive Dash 7 fleet of 21 engines that CN took over and retired three years ago along with 364 miles of rail CN used to own. 10 more engines were sold off previously, in 2005 to Ohio & Utah Central.

Note the torn up track in the foreground. This is the former QEW spur, a loop track that used to receive coal trains for the SaskPower plant back in the early 90s. Be neat if these B23-7's powered the coal train right from Alberta.
there going to be used for a shortline out of regina on the craik sub I heard it today and its to be operated by great western rail there only issue is the track and manpower

I can't imagine manpower being an issue now with hundreds of railroaders being laid off.
