CN 520 has been running with one unit long hood forward lately, beats using back-to-back GP38-2s I guess?
Bizzare! Are they still running like this? The rear lighting hardware is getting a good workout.

Yes, still running like this whenever the SD40-2W/GP40-2LW pair or whatever "regular" back-to-back power is used on the Craik, Rosetown sub etc. CN stops a freight train, even IMS!, just to spot the poor unit off the mainline. Guess they can't afford to spare GMD1us for this job any more. Last year we had 4 units in town, then three, now down to two...

April 21st
CN 802, normally Vancouver empties terminating in Saskatoon, ran to Clavet with his train of ~100 hoppers, then returned long-hood forward with ~20 hoppers.
April 22nd CN 9676 long hood forward on 520
