Pilgrim's Pride

GE centercab working Pilgrim's Pride plant near Chattanooga, Tn
Thanks for the photo. I wondered what happened to that model of locomotive. It looks like one of two GE switchers built around 1974, and they migrated around for a while. Here's a link to a photo shortly after construction, on display at a railroad equipment event on the site of the former Illinois Central Railroad's Central Station in Chicago.

Cool photo Chuck! The little GE is a neat loco. I'm thinking it's an 80 ton. Is that correct?

I don't know about the locomotive you photographed, but judging by it's appearance, it looks like a locomotive between 125-144 tons. I'm basing that opinion on: two headlights, a screened radiator opening, and the equipment box on the running board ahead of the cab. After the GE demonstrators worked for the C&NW, they moved on to the BN, but didn't stay there.

Bill, one of the reasons I shot this was the thought of what a cool industry it would make on a model railroad. The trackwork would lend itself well to shelf type benchwork. No "selective compression" would be needed.
