Happy Halloween

Rail Grinder doing it's thing on BN Tracks in Dec. 1984. A little late for Halloween that year but works fine for today.
Great shot of that fascinating rail grinder! Love the sparks - looks like the 4th of July! :)

I took a pic some years ago (15??) of a rail grinder in action in Palo Alto, CA, on the SP main line. Rather rare to see that in action. (I have yet to scan any of my pix, but will, eventually.)

In your photo, I noticed the car's weight: 140,100 pounds, which is only 100 pounds more than a Key System Bridge unit interurban car, which ran on the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge in the "good old days": 1939 - 1958. That rail grinder could safely have run on the Bay Bridge, without overloading that bridge! :)
