FRISCO 4018 On The Move!
The Frisco 4018, the very last steam loco on the whole Frisco line to run regular service, is set to be lifted on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 onto a mulitwheel transport. The plane is to move the tender via surface roads and the engine via CSX East across town to Sloss Furnace, where it is hoped that a full restoration will take place.
You ever been to Sloss? It's a GREAT place! Haunted.......who knows? Why there? Well, it will be in a very prominent place where it will be seen by many and will also be safe. I'd rather have seen it go down the road to Calera at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, but it didn't. So this is MUCH better than scrap.
