I marked the slide "special train", so I cannot say for sure what train this is. This particular locomotive was built September 1949 (c/n 8310) on order E-1216 as the rear cab of the 41L, 41A, 41B, 41C, A-B-B-A locomotive set. There is the letter C just above the buffer plate, which is just above the coupler. This entire locomotive set was involved in a wreck at Robinson, NM on September 5, 1956. All four units were rebuilt. The #41C was traded to EMD in 1969, thus never became a CF-7.
It just doesn't matter how many times a shot like this shows up on calendars, cards, post cards or other print it always seems to grab your attention. One of the best if not THE BEST color scheme ever applied to a locomotive.
