Acid Train

The unit sulphuric acid train from Stuart Sun Metals (Townsville) to Phosphate Hill, numbered 9T90, waits for a cross at Homestead (north Queensland, Australia) on Monday 18 September 2006, with Goninan-GE CM30-8 locomotives 2836 and 2817 leading 52 OSZYB and OSZY wagons. The train was 708.6 metres long, and weighed 4,193 tonnes (excluding the two 116 tonne locomotives).
I visited Queensland back in '98 while in the Navy, and got the chance to see QR in operation (Townsville). As I recall, QR is narrow-gauge and was employing EMD's at the time.
