3716 on the Kettle Valley

3716 was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1912 as #3916, class N3b for the Canadian Pacific Railway. It was rebuilt in 1929 and renumbered to 3716 and reclassed N2b. Based in the Kootenay's for many years. It was converted to oil burning by CP later in its like. After it was retired, 3716 was donated to Port Coquitlam, BC in 1966. In 1975, it was restored to operation so it could pull the Provincial Museum Train. After this, the engine went to BC Rail and became the back up to Royal Hudson #2860. It was retired by BC Rail in 2001 and the BC Rail steam Program was shut down. In 2003, 3716 was sent to Summerland, BC for restoration at the Kettle Valley Steam Railway. In 2005, 3716 was steamed up and hit the rails once again and now operates from May till October on 10 miles of the old Kettle Valley Railway.
