In late May, main line steam action and public excursion trains restarted in Central Europe, following the lifting of lockdown restrictions.
Here are two short films showing some very impressive and archaic 0-10-0 tank engines, 0-8-0 tender locomotives and 4-6-2 tanks with double steam dome on the Czech main line, for a virtual flavor of all the steam action:
In Germany, regular steam trains on many of the famed narrow gauge railways in the East of the country also restarted operations in May, while in Poland, the daily "commuter" steam train from Wolsztyn ran the whole time during the lockdown, as it's publically contracted service and in place instead of diesel railcars. Now for June, much steam will also restart in other countries, with Switzerland leading the way on paddle steamers and steam-hauled mountain railways.
The well-known Brienz-Rothorn-Bahn has been running daily steam trains on the cog since today June 11th.
