Saw one of Sound Transit's new MP40PH-3C locos on a regular revenue run both yesterday and today. It was running the Seattle to Tacoma leg. I know they were testing lately but this was the first time I saw one on the normal schedule.

The locos look OK, but man oh man - do they have a weenie horn! Very thin and weak sound, and much quieter than the horns on the F59PHI's. Sounds like the horn on a cheap kids toy train.

It rolled by me just south of Auburn while I was on the way home from work. I sometimes see the new "Winnebago" control cab on the new Talgo trainsets too.

If you really lay on it, the horn sounds fine. We have 2 working now the 921 and 922. 923 needs some repairs. Our overhauled locos will start coming back this month with the SDRX 909, painted in the new scheme, being the first one. The SDRX 908 went down for overhaul last week.
