Hi!
On the last day in January i was in the Frankenwald ~ franconia forest ~ between Kronach and Ludwigsstadt. Sun, blue Sky and snow - I love it
The line trought the franconia forest is very steep. Heavy freight trains have to be pushed by another locomotive. But on sundays there are very few freight trains. On this day only passenger trains run. These red trains look really good in the pictures

The first train was 442 270 on the way from Leipzig to Nuremberg. I photographed the Express-Train near Steinbach am Wald.

The next train comes one hour later. At a slow pace the 442 306 drives throuth the Forest on the way from Saalfeld (Saale) to Nuremberg.

A good view of Ludwigsstadt
Ludwigsstadt was the end of West Germany until 1989. The German Wall stood here a few kilometers from East Germany only. The next station on this route in five kilometers (three miles) is Probstzella and that was in East Germany 20 years ago.
