Hello, this is my first post on the Forum. I'm hoping members can assist with identifying a piece of furniture that my late father inherited from a friend of his father's in Michigan many years ago. It's a large rolltop desk, which has been described by others as a "railroad station desk." On the front of the desk, there's a brass or bronze plate identifying it as "The Gunn Desk / Grand Rapids, MI." Photos are attached.

Is there any basis for associating it with railroad history? Any details you can provide would be much appreciated. I'm going to help my step-mother in northern Virginia sell the desk, but first I thought I should seek out more information from experts on its origins.

Best wishes,
Donovan

I would examine the desk thoroughly, including hard to reach places, to see if there are any property marks or inventory labels which might identify a previous owner.
