Metrolink in Southern California has retired it's only F40PH (ex-Amtrak 396) when they received the grant from the CARB (California Air Resources Board) to purchase the new F125s to replace the older F59PH, F59PHI, and the F40PH in the fleet and as part of the agreement, they were forced to drill holes into the engine block. Now, Metrolink is wanting to scrap that locomotive and time is running out on that unit! The Los Angeles Union Station Historical Society is also trying to save the locomotive and put it in a railroad museum as well and they had meetings with the Board of Directors. We can't let another F40PH go to waste!

I have started a online petition myself to save the Metrolink F40PH 800 (originally Amtrak F40PH 396) from scrap and preserve it in a railroad museum!
