It's funny, I "knew" the 1225 long before the Polar Express movie. So at first when somebody commented "Look, it's numbered 1225!" I was like "Yeah, that's it's number..." It took me a bit to make the connection with the Christmas date.

In reading the history, there is a connection. Apparently when the engine was selected for preservation from a line of dead engines, the person doing the selection like the idea of it being 12/25 so he selected that locomotives.
