I thought it might be interesting to have a new thread especially for track conditions and detours in the Pacific Northest (WA, OR, ID, BC, etc.).
Given the damage around Snohomish and King Counties a few days ago (the photos of the Index area are something!), how have the Scenic and Bellingham subs fared?
A member can start a new thread for each event (like a big storm, derailment, etc) in the appropriate regional forum, the "In the News" or the "Heads Up" forum.
Anyone have any idea which mains, which are currently open, and any interesting detours as a result of this week's storms?

Sounder/Amtrak service between Seattle and Everett was canceled earlier this week due to a tree and/or mudslide across the tracks. Freights were running yesterday (
Wed. 12/9). Today is wait and see as yet another storm passes through the Puget Sound region.
There has been flooding on roads near US 2 in Monroe, Sultan, and Goldbar, but no reports of flooding on the BNSF Stevens Pass mainline.
The Union Pacific main through the Columbia Gorge is currently closed due to the Eagle Creek Fire at Cascade Locks. Wonder if UP is detouring over BNSF Fallbridge, Stampede and Yakima Valley Subs, or if they are just sitting tight.
Has BNSF been able to keep the high lie open, or are they detouring through the gorge and over Stampede?
Oops! Meant high line (Cascade Tunnel) and not high lie!
Does anyone out there have accurate information about Stampede? Are they going to finally do something about the tunnel, such as enlarge or bore a new one? Have the Yakima Valley Sub and the Stampede Sub received PTC? Does BNSF intend to resume bi-directional operations at some point? Any plans for fully signaling and CTC?
I suppose it's anyone's bet as to whether BNSF will finally replace or enlarge the Stampede Tunnel and fully signal the Stampede and Yakima Valley Subs since funding might be available with the infrastructure bill. Any guesses?
Does anyone know what BNSF and UP lines are closed in Washington and Oregon because of the conditions in the Cascades and/or flooding? When I went by Easton the other day, it looked like they're at least plowing the Stampede sub.
