Two more. I'm not sure what the flowers on the front of the locomotive was for.

On May 4th and 5th I made trips up near Enderlin, ND a small hub for the Canadian Pacific.

1. A few miles south of town the CP crosses a Red River Valley & Western branch.
2. In Enderlin SD40-2 ICE 6423 "City of Delavan" idles in the yard.
3. CP 9711 leads a UP unit and manifest into Enderlin where they will make a crew change then continue north.
4. Monday was a much nicer day where we find CP 8549 and 9739 leading a manifest south at Anselm, ND.

Once they shut off the ditch lights I was hoping they had to hold for a meet. Turns out they did as a BNSF grain train rolled into town lead by a warbonnet, sadly it was no longer labeled Santa Fe but, you don't see many of either anymore.

Thank you Ed. I caught the RRVW again Monday and Tuesday in Gwinner. On Monday evening another BNSF shuttle grain train came through on its way to Oakes, ND with CEFX 1027 in the consist. Then Tuesday a couple geeps switch the Bobcat plant.

I must have missed this thread the first time around. Very cool shots of an interesting little line.

A few pictures from Mon. 6/16/14 and Sunday 6/22/14. On the 16th I was just out for a drive and happened to catch a RRVW weed spraying train sitting in Delamere, ND. I've been getting frustrated since the train comes into town about 10pm on Sundays especially since it sits 5 miles East of town for 45 minutes. So, I decided on the 22nd to head it off about 7:00 in Wyndmere, ND. I didn't make it in time to catch it crossing the CP diamond, but I headed out to Delamere and waited on it.
1-3. RRVW GP10 404 sitting in the siding at Delamere with a week spraying train
4. Independent Locomotive Services GP39-2 1389 and RRVW GP38-2 2194 gleams in the setting sun as they pass the prairie skyscraper in Delamere, ND.

A few more from Sunday.

1. The train rolling past MP 111.
2. ILSX 1389 and RRVW 2194 a few miles outside of Gwinner.
3. Apparently since they had some extra switching to do they headed straight into town. Here the crew is stopping to unhook the cars for Gwinner (3 gons, 12 covered hoppers, and 1 propane tanker)
4. Most of the train.

First off I want to apologize for taking so long to upload the rest of these photos. After I moved and started school I got very busy and kept putting it off until I just forgot completely. Anyway, the first photo is BNSF 7099 sitting in Oakes, ND waiting for a grain shuttle to be loaded. Next up is a couple shots of RRVW 2194 crossing the CP diamond in Wyndmere, ND.

2-4. A CP frac sand and container train under the BNSF "High-line" bridge in Valley City.

Is that the famous Northern Pacific bridge over the Sheyenne River? Good catch on photographing one train crossing over the other.

I think that's the first time I've seen an automatic gate on a railroad track. I recall from long ago in Union City, TN seeing a manual swing gate guarding the old NC&StL where it crossed the GM&O downtown. Guess that's a not-uncommon practice on dark territory.

That's a spectacular viaduct, made even more so by it's near-perfect reflection in the lake.
