My name is Carly Wanna, and I am a reporter for Bloomberg News. I am looking into the number of railroad workers employed by Class I freight operators in the US. As volumes are recovering to pre-pandemic levels, many rail companies do not employ as many workers as they did before the pandemic.
I am hoping to speak with current or former employees (especially those who have been furloughed and have yet to be called back or, otherwise, do not want to return) of Class I railroads. I understand that speaking publicly on these matters can be challenging. I am hoping for on-the-record comments regarding individual experiences.
