Join us as we say farewell to Monson Steam Locomotive No. 4 – Saturday, March 29th! The 15-year federal boiler certificate on Monson No. 4 will expire this Spring. Going forward, the museum will need to rebuild or replace the existing boiler before the locomotive is able to operate again. To commemorate the last day of service for Monson No. 4, the museum will be open for a one-day photographer and rail fan special, Saturday, March 29th. Don’t miss out on your last chance to enjoy the sites and sounds of steam on the Portland waterfront!
Daytime steam trains will operate at 1:00pm, 2:30pm, and 4:00pm. Regular train fares apply during daytime service and ticket prices include admission to the museum. As a special treat, the museum will host a night photo train at 7:30pm! Railfans and photographers don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to capture this unique historic locomotive one last time! A special $25 fare for the night photo train applies. The $25 ticket is good for the entire day and includes museum admission, unlimited train rides, an evening photography session and behind-the-scenes tours of the engine house!
