Apparently the town just can't figure this out. Everyone thought this was resolved.
Jim Thorpe train rides to end again over tax dispute
JIM THORPE, Pa. - The depot for the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is empty, and it appears the Jim Thorpe tourist stop could stay that way.
"I'm really sad about that. It's a real treasure here. Brings a lot of people here, one of the big draws," said resident Philip Cohen.
The 45-minute ride through the Lehigh Gorge and Pocono Mountains has hit another road block.
Last fall the railroad said it was permanently pulling out after the borough filed suit for nearly $100,00 in unpaid amusement taxes.
The borough dropped the lawsuit and the two sides appeared to be back on track.
However, now the borough says the railroad wants a written agreement stating it doesn't owe the amusement tax, has never owed it and never will owe it.
