Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

I am considering a career change. Many many of my family and friends are on one railroad or another and I have been thinking about it for a couple of years now. I am now in the position to do just that. Recently divorced, no kids, and can go anywhere, for anyone. I have been a automotive service tech for 10+ years, and my dream has been to be an engineer. My concern is my age. I just turned 50. Is that too old? I can keep up with most 30 year olds, and am in good shape. I have been told by some that 50 is too old, but that hiring manager like someone with years of work under their belt.

Should I bother? I know the montra with the RR can be hurry up and wait, but I would like to get started. Any suggestions?
