The most famous steam locomotive built in my home town of Doncaster, England, toured the US in 1969 (I think). I'm wondering if anyone on the forum saw her...or has any info. Thanks.

I recall seeing the Flying Scotsman parked on the Embarcadero in San Francisco sometime in the early 70's after my parents moved to Santa Rosa, CA.

I saw it running on the Grand Truck Western. My dad opened a phone box west of Schoolcraft MI and was listening to the dispatcher to hear where it was. My brother and I were stationed near the road to warn him of approaching cars so he could close the phone box in case any railroad people came by. It took a while but eventually he heard enough to get an idea where it was. We headed east to Vicksburg where the Pennsylvania crossed the GTW to wait. It came along later in the day at what was a good clip to a kid. All the adults who'd been around in the steam era stood and listened to it working off into the distance.
