Hi !
I think it should be a great idea if the ex-CSX Everett Sub will be rebuild from Kingsland to Riceboro,GA for an
High-Speed rail project for Amtrak which high-speed trains will be run on this future high speed railroad from
Jacksonville-Savannah-Columbia-Raleigh-Richmond to Washington,DC or Jacksonville-Savannah-Charleston-Florence-
Rocky Mount-Richmond to Washington,DC.
And the future HST track will belongs to Amtrak which HST trains could be running at 200 mph from Jacksonville, FL
to Savannah and Washington, DC no matter what they will goes pass to Columbia, SC and Raleigh, NC or to Charleston and
Florence, SC to Washington,DC.
And several future Amtrak HST stations could be build from downtown JAX including a future HST station for the Jacksonville International Airport, another for Brunswick-Jesup-Jekyll Island combine stations and finally another station one for Savannah and last station one for Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport before crossing GA/SC border.
The another existing CSX line which it goes to Folkston and Jesup to Savannah from Jacksonville is too busy to do run an high-speed train over. So the best idea is to rebuild the Everett Subdivision from Kingsland to Riceboro and this track will be reserved exclusively for high-speed trains like in France,United Kingdom,Spain,Japan and China.
In Riceboro GA, a part of this former CSX line belongs to Riceboro Southern Railway subsidiairy of Genesee & Wyoming Inc. So, Amtrak could be build the HSR line beside of the Riceboro Southern RY from this town to reach Savannah.
Time of rail travel will be reduced from Jacksonville, FL to Washington, DC if HST trains run over the future Amtrak Everett Sub and that a very good advantage because the former railroad bed is closer to the I-95 JAX-Savannah corridor than the CSX Jesup Sub.
