The Durango and Silverton has to add a lot of coaches to the Polar Express runs to allow passengers to maintain social distancing. Doing so means the train is too heavy for a single locomotive. Due to weight restrictions on bridges, they cannot simply double head in the normal manner. Instead they're running with one locomotive on either end of the train. This isn't that unusual for a Polar Express run, as it allows quick reversal of direction, but what is unusual is for both locomotives to be steam.
