Hello, wondering if any one could help identify a cross section of track I obtained from an antique dealer recently in Illinois.
In the attached picture, the cross section is to the right of the contemporary (bigger) cross section of track. What I have found to match so far is that the dimensions closely resemble AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS (A.S.C.E.) rails “section index 841”.
My main questions are:
What was this type of track used for?
What railroads used this type of track?
