UP5595 backs his manifest into the main switching yard in El Paso (Alfalfa). He eventually came back out and joined what was left of his train on track one.
This local manifest is headed up by one of several unpatched SP units in the area. He was pulling 35 cars down track one to switch to track three to back into Alfalfa yard for set outs.
UP3794 heads up a variety of power in this manifest that stopped here for refueling and an air test. Power included three UP engines, one NS and one CEFX.
UP4012 leads a consist of 93 doublestack cars down from up north on Carrizozo Sub. Moved through this switch and headed on into El Paso for a Westward move towards Lordsburg, NM.
UP5292 waits for a signal to head into downtown El Paso and points westward. On point for a WB doublestack with 117 cars, he is the first of five UP engines in this consist. Got his signal at 10:55am Coming down the UP Carrizozo sub from Vaughn, NM area.
This shot looks so much like a model or diorama to me. I couldn't pass up a chance to get an unpatched Cotton Belt unit. The moon rising is just extra gravy for the shot.
