  1. CBNS hi-rail

    CBNS hi-rail

Your typical plain-white shortline hi-rail, until you see this decal on the back. Quite clever IMHO, although a pick-up truck certainly doesn't qualify as a train in my log book.
  2. Road trip

    Road trip

CBNS leases most of their MOW equipment from MRM - Maritime Rail Maintenance. Their equipment in turn is mostly ex-CN's, not surprisingly leased to shortlines running on ex-CN/CP trackage, interchanging with CN. Did I mention CN? This broom is moving onto the next shortline via truck. CN and...
  3. Vanilla ice...

    Vanilla ice...

The picture speaks for itself. Sadly for me it's a magazine reject.
  4. Railink 4004

    Railink 4004

Railink 4004, a GP9-4 of SP heritage has been sitting dead at Stellaron, coupled to an ex-CN flanger for a while now. It's 3 brothers that also work on CBNS haven't been doing much better. 4001 is in the car shops, 4003 has recently joined him, leaving 4002 as the only one working hard for the...
  5. Ex-Con GP15-1

    Ex-Con GP15-1

This LLPX GP15-1 shows it's obvious, poorly patched Conrail heritage well. It was the Stellartion swticher for a long time, but now it's running on the mainline alongside bigger brothers like LLPX GP38-2's and HATX SD45-2's. Note the waterbottles on the hood.
  6. CBNS snow plough

    CBNS snow plough

An ex-CN snow plough of 1929 vintage. He has a flatcar coupled with him for some reason... It is stored in the yard most of the time.
  7. CBNS 2000

    CBNS 2000

A typical neglected CN caboose, bought from a junk yard. All it has is a small patch that says CBNS 2000... Wonder when its going to get painted?
  8. CN flanger (1940)

    CN flanger (1940)

Now owned by the CBNS shortline, this old flanger is waiting for snow all year long. Note the CBNS patch.
  9. Ice ice?

    Ice ice?

This 25 year old 50' CN boxcar has been sitting in the yard long enough for the ice to form.
  10. Rusty hopper

    Rusty hopper

I thought I've seen a lot of junk at the scrap yard, but this one is still working! I think its still used in Revenue service, thus isn't even MOW! Judging by the freshly applied rpeorting marks (now visible well here), it and about a dozen hoppers just like it, will be rolling for a long time...
  11. Caboose in the rough

    Caboose in the rough

Bought by CBNS shortline from a scrap yard in 1997, this old rusty car is part of its 3 caboose fleet (all ex-CN). The other two have been painted, and look much more better though. Caught in their main yard coupled next to a flanger and a platform, all ex-CN as well.
  12. Coal cart

    Coal cart

I find this little thing very neat. The Museum of Industry has two of them. It's a circa 1900 15Ton hopper.
