At one time CP ran almost a thousand SD40's and SD40-2's including leased units. Today they're numbers are dropping rapidly (300 or so left) do to the new GE's arriving.

This old SD40 rests on the dead line next to SOO 755 (SD40), CP 5580 (SD40-2), St L&H 5448 (SD40-2) in the backround and CP 5689 (SD40-2). They're all in Winnipeg to be scrapped.

Fomer Ontario Hydro unit, reassigned to CP in 1979, then to CN in 1996, then back to CP in 2000, retired in 2002, sold to NRE. Caught with 4 other CP/SOO retired SD40-2's.
