This is the date on the side of the rail. We had some very old tracks in Lewistown- that is, until they pulled them all up this summer, now there are no more trains for Lewistown.
Here is MRL #651 leading the Jumbo Local eastbound from Frenchtown, Montana. Note: As the last gondola went by, it had a crane in the rear of the car.. It looked like it had picked up some used railroad ties.
A BNSF Heritage 2 C44-9W leading a loaded Boardman Coal train up the east side of Mullan Pass. This train is passing the east switch of Austin siding. Just behind the power, is the Austin Loops which provide a shot of the train climbing the 2.2% grade..
Here is MRL #401 along with MRL #402 switching the lumber plant at Bonner, Montana.. This is a very quick run from Missoula eastward about 3 to 4 miles to the industry.
