Who decided to show up to my favorite railfan spot in the middle of nowhere? Why the friendly forman of course. The crew (2 regular hi-railers as well) soon took off W/B fixing the CN TRANSCON.

CN 630 tramp job (CN Industrial, MP 188) heads home with 5 cars, slowly following CN 347.

I used to see 1434 all the time in Winnipeg across the street @ Fort Garry Industrial Park/Manitoba Sugar site/Fort Rouge yard job. Now he has been...
CN 346 is about to cover me from head to toe. Although hard to see due to 'weather conditions' this is the river bridge: http://tinyurl.com/2mkrdd
Sadly, I was not able to get the 2nd units number, although I think its CN 2584, Dash 9-44CW. CN 8011 SD70M-2 sure makes for a good plow with that...
For starters, these aren't real WC engines. For over 30 years they were CN SD40's, the backbone of the fleet. Just like their SD40 brothers before them, who became CN 6000 SD40u series, they were sent for re-building to PSC in the 90s, who by that time was privatized by ALSTOM. Hence they got...
Motorists sure are suprised when they see a truck on the RR tracks, to be fair he does yield the right of way to them. It's the same one I caught one year ago: http://tinyurl.com/2dj4wx
The foreman was managing slow orders, verbally warning the crews to slow down - this made train watching...
Shots at dusk of a UP train stopped just east of Watkins, IA at dusk. The train stopped for some time, then moved on as traffic was backed up this day on the main.

The majority of CN trucks (not pick-ups) are of the 6axle heavy-duty variety. Then there's this guy who has a relatively short wheelbase and is based on an IH chassis! I'm suprised CN didn't utilize a Ford F350 for this purpose...

VIA Rail is Canada's national rail people mover, utilizing RDC's, F40PH-2's, P42's and hundreds of passenger cars. Then there're these guys, one truck and van, based in Winnipeg - used on runs between the Winnipeg Maintenence Center (WMC) and Union station downtown. The van is ussually full of...

Looks like CN is copying a certain well-known railway who's slogan is "We Will Deliver". Wonder when UP is going to sue, considering how hard they go after modelers for using the UP name alone! In a solid double-stack IMS train you might find a half/dozen of them.
Now who does that...

CN Riverview is a long sliding on the Watrous subm, where trains often meet before the line becomes single again. As you can probably guess from the smaller signal there's a yard nearby.
There isn't a lot of diversity in autoracks, so it was quite a catch to find a nameless one. Anyone know who's it is? There was also another nameless one on the train, but it wore BNSF colors, so I guess it is theirs. Note the thunderstorm in the distance, it actually rained on us railfans soon...
CN tries to save on power anywhere it can, even outdoing CP with more one unit-wonders lately. Yet when it comes to intemrodal, its the power hour! Two CN SD60F's sandwtich a BCR SD40-2.
If I drive 20 minutes on my bike outside of town, this is the closest CN spot I can reach. I don't like it very much as its far from home, trains go fast doing 60miles/hour and it doesn't help that it's a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. That's why I chose to railfan CP instead on a regular...
I waited 2 hours to see a train on the CN mainline with no results. Then all of a sudden I saw a light, but it was just a hi-rail passing by... To be fair I do like the way the photo turned out.
110 years ago that grass road was a the main line to Chicago for the Northern Pacific. Now it stands only as a grassy path to nothing. Meeker Southern operates the western 4.5 miles of this former mainline.
